DOHE#002: Wish I would have gone by my *middle* name, instead of my first name

Summary:
I've got one of the most common names in the country: David.

I've had teams at work where there were literally 5 other people are called "David'. One of my best buds from college is called David. Argghh!!

My *family* all called me 'Troy' when I was young. It was a slightly unusual name. Even at the young age of 9 or 10, I didn't want to be unusual or different, so I insisted that I be called David. I really wish I could be called 'Troy' now. It's not a big deal, but it still kind of bugs me that I could have actually had a unique name.
Root Cause:
Insecurity. Fear of not being accepted
Prevention:
Remember that it is the courageous who dare to be different and that ultimately, we admire those people.

Middle Name as First Name

Although perhaps going by Troy would be perhaps more rebellious, there are fewer nickname possiblilities.
